what medium is used for Chinese red Lacquer paint

East Asian lacquer is a resin made from the highly toxic sap of the Rhus verniciflua tree. It is Urushio which is chemically related to the sap in poison ivy. The red coloring component was mercury sulfide, traditionally from mineral cinnabar. It is a very unique material, but I would never suggest anyone experiment with it if they are not specifically trained to do so.
