Is there anything I can do to get the odour out.  It is acrylic on a gallery canvas? It has some yellow spots on the back of the canvas

I have tried putting it in the sun outside and a vinegar wash but does not get rid of it.  Thank you for any help you can give

If the smell is truly “musty” as you state I would strongly recommend trying to get your hands on a vacuum with a HEPA filter and gently vacuum the back and front (as well as the stretcher bars). Do not place the vacuum directly on the surface of the painting/canvas. Instead get yourself a soft-bristle brush to gently agitate the dust on the surface while you hold the vacuum directly over the area you are brushing. Also try to locate some MicroChamber paper or ragboard. You can place the painting in between two sheets of the paper/board and set it aside for awhile in a well ventilated area (so a normal degree of airflow…). You can check on the smell from time to time to see if there is progress. For now try to avoid putting the painting out in the sun….
