Hi All,
I use candle wax for make art and have been using resin as a sealant. However, it is super shiny and thick. Any suggestions on what I could use to prevent damage and something that is Uber heat heat resistant? Thanks so much and be well!
Thanks..I’ll look into it! The resin does mess with the texture….heat will melt the work so that is also an obstacle!
If it were my work, I would display in an acrylic enclosure or in a glass-faced case. The last time I saw wax originals by Medardo Rosso, they were all protected by acrylic covers. Regarding a resin protectant, I would imagine the necessary thickness to afford protection from contact and heat would be so heavy as to obscure the original.
One question I would have is how integral is the wax to the meaning or aesthetic experience of the work, or is it being used simply as a way to create a form? If it is not integral, and more used as a sculpting material, you could try making e a mold of the piece and cast the form in a different material that could hopefully provide a similar appearance in a more permanent medium. Its a completely different approach, I realize, but did want to at least throw it out there.
