Topic starter
I just read another excellent article published by George O’Hanlon, called ‘Maximizing Durability: The Superiority of Linseed Oil in Oil Painting’.
That article explains very well why Linseed Oil is superior to the other oils commonly used in oil painting technique. The high ratio of Linolenic Acid is a major reason why linseed oil is much more durable.
Would there be any advantage in painting with almost chemically pure Linolenic Acid? Would it perform even better than normal linseed oil? Would the yellowing be even stronger than with normal linseed oil?
Many thanks
